PARIS: Nov 1, Sardar Shingara Singh Mann, Ambassador of Khalistan Government in exile in Paris, has dismissed as “concotion” the Indian press reports saying that the French Government has ordered the closure of the Embassy of Khalistan, opened last month in Paris.

In a press statement, Mr. Mann has said that the Embassy of Khalistan was established with the permission of the authorities to project the suppression of Sikh human rights and lobby support for their just struggle.

The Embassy is carrying out its functions within the French laws, he said, and the French Government has been given no cause of complaint.

A PTI report datelined New Delhi said: “France has ordered closure of an office registered in Paris as “Embassy of Khalistan” following a strong protest by India.

The Indian mission in Paris informed New Delhi that recognition was granted at the level of local government because of “an error”.

An external affairs ministry spokesman said Wednesday France was issuing a notification rescinding the registration of the embassy.

The French authorities would take legal, action against those involved in this “bizarre recognition”, the spokesman added”.
