YUBA CITY, CA: Yuba City known as the Punjab of the west wore a festive look on Sunday as thousands of Sikhs congregated from all over the US and Canada to participate in the annual parade on the occasion of Sri Guru Granth Sahib’s Guru Gaddi anniversary. Tierra Buena Road reminded one of mela in Punjab with a sea of colorful turbans and dupattas.
After the Akhand path bhog several prominent leaders addressed the congregation.
The parade started at 11 amina long procession of floats mounted on trucks, trollies and cars with scores of people walking behind each chanting hymns and an occasional Khalistan slogan.

Wally Herger, Assemblyman Chris Chandler also spoke. Mr Herger said that India’s human rights record was dismal and it must stop persecuting its minorities otherwise all aid to it would be stopped. He said the Sikhs should be allowed to decide about their political future.
The procession was headed by a float with the Guru Granth Sahib and the Panj Piaras with unsheathed kirpans ‘walking ahead of it and a replica ‘of the Golden Temple following it.
The groups represented were Kalgidhar Istri Satsang, Sikh Youth of America, Gurdwara Gridley Live Oak, Babbar Khalsa International, Gurdwara Sahibs San Jose, El Sobrante and Livingston, Dildar music group, Sikh Sangat San Jose, Sacramento Gurdwara, U C Davis, Punjab Culture
Society, Sikh Youth of Yuba City, PCKD Society among other.
