NEW DELHI: Hundreds of riot widows recently marched to Prime Minister V.P.Singh residence protesting against the “strong arm” tactics of the Congress (I) to shield the persons allegedly involved in the November 1984 riots in the Capital.

Carrying placards “Arrest Sajjan, Tytler and Bhagat”, the widows and other relatives of riot victims marched under the banner of the All-India Sikh Conference (Babbar). The march was led by Swami Agnivesh, president of the Bonded Laborers Liberation Front.

In a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister, they demanded filing of cases in special courts for a free and fair judicial verdict at the earliest. “The delay in the filling of cases has already delayed justice to the victims,” they said.

Decrying the attempt by Congress (I) supporters to prevent the arrest of Mr Sajjan Kumar, a former Congress (I) MP, they appealed to Mr V.P. Singh not to yield to intimidator tactics.
