CHANDIGARH: Sikh militant organisations have declared their resolve not to permit water of Punjab Rivers to be taken out of the State either through the SYL canal or any other channel.
Ina note circulated among local newspapers, the Panthic committee and four militant groups stated that they had made adequate arrangements to ensure the success of their program.
Devi Lal who came rushing to Chandigarh to hold parleys with Governor Verma on how to save the SYL project in the wake of the killing of two top engineers by militants, admitted at a press conference that the project had received a setback but affirmed that it would be carried through.
The Haryana govt has pleaded that the task be given to central agency so that the work was finished soon.
No Akali group reacted to the political aspect of the water issue focused recently by militant groups.
PHRO chairman Harinder Singh Khalsa declared his organisation stood by the Panthic committee program aimed at dismantling the SYL canal.
