BRIDGEWATER: A Kirtan diwan and a Kavi darbar marked the Vaisakhi celebrations at the Garden State Sikh Association in Central New Jersey on Friday April 14.
Prominent poets from the tristate area, attended the function and gave rendering of their poems.
S.Randhir Singh read a poem on “Vaisakhi”, Dr. Satwant Kaur Dhamoon a poem, “Vaisakhi of 13 April 1699, Ms. Manjit Kaur Nagar a rendering of compositions. Of Buleh Shah and a poem of Vaisakhi S. Harjap Singh gave poems. On Vaisakhi & Guru Gobind Singh Ji in Urdu, S. Jang Singh on Vaisakhi and Bhai Gurcharan Singh on Amrit.
At the kirtan diwan which followed the Kavi Darbar, Bhai Sarabjit Singh of Jallandhar sung Gurbani in raga yemen kalyan, S. Pagat Singh the secretary of Sikh Cultural Society Richmond Hill NY sung in malkuns and the jatha of Bhai Dilbagh Singh and Gulbagh Singh in Tarana.
The highlight of the evening was an hour of kirtan by the Jatha of Bhai Aytar Singh & Gurcharan Singh in dhurpat partal, which gaye the congregation a feel of how the shabads were sung in the times of the Guru Gobind Singh ji.
