NEW YORK: “Truth is with the Sikhs”, said Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh while addressing the congregation at the Sikh Cultural Society in Richmond Hill Queens on March 5.
He was referring to the attempts of the Indian Government to misinform the world about the continuing genocide of the Sikhs in India. The problem in Punjab was not that of the violation of human rights in Punjab but one of establishing Khalistan.
The government of India wanted to annihilate the Sikhs and create a Hindu Raj, said Dr. AuJakh Singh adding that it was a part of the Universal Deceleration of Human Rights that every Nation has the right to self-determination.
Referring to Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s recent so-called concessions on Punjab, Dr. Aulakh Singh said they were a result to the pressure by the U.S. Congresses pressure in the form of the Indian Human Rights Bill of 1989. He dismissed the announcement as cosmetic misinformation.
Dr. Aulakh Singh was presented a check on behalf of the Gurdwara. The Sangat also participated in raising the funds.
