AMRITSAR: The government has cancelled all First information reports of leaders and has released all of them, except Simranjit Singh Mann Parkash. Singh Badal ex chief minister Punjab and Gurcharan Singh Tohra President SGPC were received at Amritsar by thousands of Sikhs who raised slogans, “Khalistan Zindabad.” These Akali leaders were detained under National Security Act and were never put to trial.

Simranjit Singh Mann is still under detention and the case against him not withdrawn. A Government spokesman when asked said his case is under consideration of the government.

All but 35 Jodhpur detainees have been released. Bhai Manjit Singh President AISSF and Harminder Singh Sandhu secretary general AISSF are among those released. All these were arrested from Golden Temple Amritsar in June 1984, during the Operation Blue Star. They were put on trial. Amnesty International and other Human Rights Organization had charged the Indian government for violations of Human Rights. Even in U.S. Congress a bill was introduced which expressed concern of the Congress about the most blantant human rights violations in India.
