HARIDWAR: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) a fundamentalist Hindu organization Sunday announced its “program of action” to prepare its plan for the construction of a temple devoted to the mythical God, Rama at Ayodhya from October 30.At the conclusion of the two day meeting Sunday, the VHP announced formation of 20 member committee headed by the Hindu religious leader, Jagat guru Shanka charya to mobilize men and material all over the country for the construction.

Addressing the press conference here Ashok Singha, the secretary general of VHP said if the government tried to obstruct VHP volunteers from constructing we would court and bullets to fulfil our mission. We do not want confrontation with the government.

Singhal, however said that the doors for negotiation were still open but the date of construction and site for the temple were not negotiable.

The VHP has been demanding the demolition of the Babri Masjid, built in medieval times, in Ayodhya claiming that it is the holy birthplace of Rama. The Muslims however deny historical specificity of the claim. The VHP were prevented from laying the foundation stone for the temple by the Uttar Pradesh state government as the authorities demanded waiting till the Allahabad high court passes its judgement on the construction of the temple.
