A police spokesman said Manjit Singh was arrested from his resin Amritsar for “harbouring terror and extorting large sums.”

Punjab government had received complaints against him for extortions and running a parallel administration.

Federation leaders, Darshan Singh and Sarabjeet Singh Jammu (in Jalandhar) were also arrested Sunday and booked under the same act.

Meanwhile the executive committee of the federation has threatened to launch an “action programme” in case Manjit Singh was not released unconditionally by Monday.

Manjit Singh was among the Jodhpur detainees released in March last year after five years. He was arrested during Operation Blue Star in 1984, when the Indian army attacked the Golden Temple, the Holy Sikh Shrine. He was to leave for Anandpur Sahib to organise a religious training camp
