AMRITSAR: The Punjab Government Friday returned gold, gold ornaments, precious stones, pearls and fixed deposits, seized from the Golden Temple complex, the holiest shrine of Sikhdom’s during: Operation Blue star in 1984 to the temple management committee, SGPC.
New Punjab governor Virendra Verma personally handed over these articles to SGPC secretary Manjit Singh Calcutta on his first visit to Golden Temple Friday morning.
The government earlier returned a sum of Rs 2.4 7 million and 382 kgs of coins, seized during Operations Blue star and Black
Thunder carried out by the Indian army.
The articles handed over to the SGPC consist of 5400.350 5400.350 grams of gold, gold ornaments and gold plated ornaments, 1440 grams of silver articles assorted coins, one silver plaque, 1442 grams of precious stones and pear is and fixed deposit receipts
