AMRITSAR: The people of Kairon village do not believe that Bhai Bakhshish Singh Sona was killed in a police encounter as was reported by the media last week.
The villagers say in one voice that Shisha an associate of Bhai ‘Sona was arrested by the Ferozepur police from Kairon village on June 2. On the basis of information provided by Shisha, Sona and his wife were taken into custody by the police about a week ago either from Sirsa or Mehta in Amritsar.
Subsequently Sona was killed. It is alleged by some that Sona’s wife was beaten to death by securitymem while others say she consumed cyanide. Her cremation was performed at her parent’s village Jaura near Kairon.
Sona, 30, came under the influence of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in 1983, when the Sant toured the path region. Sona belonged to a middle class Jat Sikh family and was the eldest of three sons. After Blue star Sona became a member of the KCF. After some differences with Bhai Gurjant Singh Buddh sing wale, he joined the B TKF, headed by Baba Manochahal.
