Dr. Rajinder Singh Dhillon, M.D. has been selected for 199091 APA/NIMH minority fellowship for his dedication and commitment towards working with minority communities and who show distinct leadership qualities and eagerness in working with minority communities and provide a role model to other physicians in the field of Psychiatry. Dr. Dhillon is the first Sikh physician to be ever awarded this fellowship since its inception over two decades ago. This fellowship comes with $27,500.00 which will go to The Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC where Dr. Dhillon is starting his Child Psychiatry Fellowship in July 90,

This fund will be used for conferences and seminars on transcultural and minority issues. Dr. Dhillon will get an opportunity to attend several National Level Conferences and meetings dealing with these issues, including one in New Orleans, LA, in spring of 1991.

Dr. Dhillon is currently a 3rd year Psychiatry Resident in training at St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Washington D.C. He is very interested in working with chronically mentally ill, under seemed and underrepresented populations and minority groups. He has done a lot of work with mentally ill, homeless people in shelters of Washington D.C. He has special interest in Psychiatry, chemical dependency working with delinquent children and their families.

Dr. Dhillon is a graduate of Gobind Singh Medical College, Punjab, India and migrated to United States in 1982. Since then he has walked in different fields of psychiatry and has been engaged in research, He is currently living in Alexandria, Virginia. He is 35, married and has two children, a six year old daughter and a one month old son. He believes in traditional family system. He has an older brother practicing law in India and a younger sister living in Toronto, Canada. His parents have just immigrated from India, Dr. Dhillon would like Sikh community in this country to prosper and get more involved in Education and Research,
