JAMMU: Maulvi Umer Farooq, the 1 6 year old son of the later Mirwaiz Maulana Farooq, will be installed as the 12th Mirwaiz the 600 old lineages at a ceremony to be held at Jama Masjid in Srinagar before the Friday prayers.
The announcement was made by the Awami Action Committee at the “Fateh” ceremony which was attended by several thousand people at the Idgah in downtown Srinagar.
Reports from Srinagar said people went to Jama Masjid and Idgah after the authorities allowed a 12 hour relaxation in curfew from 0700 hours in Srinagar to enable supporters of AAC to hold the Fateh Khawani ceremony Thursday.
