POONCH: Security forces ha actual control in Poonch district in the Jammu region after the arrest of 100 Pakistan trained men and seizure of a large quantity of arms: and ammunition during the last three weeks, the govt says.

Officials said extra vigil and coming operations in the villages along the border in Poonch and Rajouri district in Kashmir was being maintained to prevent the entry of people from across the border.

Interrogation of those arrested, including three “area commanders” and two “recruiting officers” showed that over 300 youth were recruited from Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Officials said the youth were Recruited to be trained in Pakistan officials said.

Officials said the men had been provided sophisticated weapons, including war kits by Pakistan to create disturbances in Jammu by disrupting essential services and communication lines in the event of war.

Vital clues regarding the plan to create internal disturbances in the state came to the light following. the arrest of some JKLF kingpins, including Shabir Hussain Sarhoti, Mohamad Bashir, Farookh Khan, Barkat Hussain Qazmi, Mukhtar Hussain, Abdul Rashid and Mohammad Ayub Shabnam.

Meanwhile the state government has made a separate commissionary for Rajouri and Poonch and appointed a special commissioner and deputy inspector general to supervise law and order and insurgency in these areas.
