SRINAGAR; the Indian security forces including the army have the power to arrest any person. Without informing the local police.

The militants were killed in separate encounters with security forces in the five km belt along the IndoPakistan border Thursday, an official source said.
One militant was shot dead and six others nabbed by security forces when they were trying to cross over to the Indian side in the five km belt in Poonch sector, in Jammu division.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including seven AK47 rifles, 1500 rounds of AK47 rifles one rocket launcher and a large quantity of explosives were recovered from the spot, the sources said.
Another militant was killed by security forces in another border sector in the valley. One AK47 rifle was recovered from the spot.
