MODESTO, CA: The Sikhs residing in USA have been increasingly taking part in the local elections. Practically in every town the candidates for different posts approached the Sikh community for help and support. In this process the Sikh community of Stanislaus County assured their full support to Mr. Burl Condit who is seeking reelection as Sheriff. This assurance was conveyed at a function arranged by the Sikhs at the residence of Mr and Mrs. Amarjeet (Sam) Samra. A large number of Sikh families of the area responded to the invitation of Samras.

Speaking at the function Mr. Condit praised the cultural and social structure of the Sikh community. He told that most of the problems relating to drugs lawlessness are created because of tension ridden family life. He complimented the Sikh religion for forbidding the use of drugs and tobacco. He also praised the Sikhs residing in this country as a peace loving and law abiding citizens.

Mr. Condit assured the gathering that he will make all out efforts to ensure drug free and lawful atmosphere in this area.

Mr. HS. Bhullar, General Manager of the World Sikh News acted as Moderator.

In the end, Mr. Samra thanked the guest of honor and other guest for responding to his invitation.
