NEW DELHI: Lt. Gen. Sunith Rodriguez has been’ made the Chief of the Indian Army. He takes over on July 1, when the present chief retires,

Lt. Gen. J. S. Grewal has been promoted to replace Rodriguez as GOG Western Command.

The govt. also announced the appointment of two new army commanders, Lt. Gen. K. S. Brar and Lt. Gen. P, G. Joshi.

Brar has been made General officer commanding, Eastern Command, while Joshi gets Goc southern Command. Simranjit Singh Mann has criticized the govt. for promoting Brar. Brar was involved in Operation Blue star.
