AMRITSAR: Taking a serious view of the technical maneuvers’ of the Pakistan army close to the border, the Indian army has become extra vigilant in Punjab and is prepared for a war.
Defense strategists say that both armies are deployed in defensive positions. The launching of an offense is a relatively simple process.
The Pak army Chief has visited troops in forward areas in the Fazilka sector. Indian analysts say Pakistan in concentrating on Punjab and Kashmir to gain initial advantage if war breaks out. The local populations in both Punjab and Kashmir are expected to back the Pakistani troops and welcome them as a liberation army.
In the second phase Pakistan may seek the help of Kashmiri and Sikh militants.
In the final phase it will dig into defensive positions in all sectors except Kashmir. Haying moved 11 of its 21 divisions close to the border Pak is now waiting for the high mountain passes to open for quick military supplies from China in case of war.
