NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed an FIR against Kashmiri separatist Amanullah Khan, informed sources here said.

The sources said Khan is likely to be charged with inciting kidnapers of the Kashmir university vice chancellor, Prof Mashir Ul Haq his secretary, Ghulam Nabi and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT), General Manager H.L Khera to kill them in Srinagar recently.

Another charge against Khan, chief of the outlawed Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) will be for supporting militants indulging in subversive and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir the sources said.

The FIR is being filed in connection with India’s request to the United States for Khan’s expulsion for making inflammatory statements against India.

The U.S. authorities have, meanwhile, revoked the multi-point entry American visa of Khan. A Pakistani passport holders, Khan has been in the U.S. for the last two weeks.

The sources said cases had already been registered against Khan by the Jammu and Kashmir police following recent killings and bomb blasts in the valley.

The offenses which are likely to figure against Khan are murder, attempt to murder, kidnaping and terrorist activities, the sources added.

External affairs minister I.K Gujral had informed Parliament on Thursday that India had asked the U.S. to take legal action, detain and handover Khan for directing militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir from the U.S.

The FIR and a warrant of arrest, Gujral said were essential for taking up Khan’s extradition proceedings with the U.S.

Informed sources said the FIR would be filed in the next couple of days.
