VIRGINIA: Baisakhi celebrations began with the commencement of Akhand Path at the Sikh Foundation in Fairfax Station on April 13. The same evening a special diwan was held, attended by about 250 people followed by langar. Akhand Path Sampati was on Sunday morning, April 15. It was followed by “‘chola ceremony” on the Nishan Sahib. Kirtan and As a di Var were sung by several youth, men and women groups and by Gaini Kuldeep Singh and Ragi Arjun Singh from New York. There were several speeches by the youth and the guest speaker was Brigadier Iqbal Singh from Duke University, North Carolina. He spoke about Sikh values and stressed honesty and humility.
The Gurdwara were thronged by worshippers. The main hall upstairs and langar hall downstairs were filled with Kesri and multi colored turbans and chunnis. More than 1200 people were present and partook of the langar. The celebrations concluded with ‘presentation of the new board of trustees and management committee, to the Sadh Sangat.

Baisakhi celebration was heId at Washington Sikh Center Gaithersburg MD on April 22, 1990. From 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm Shabads kirtan and kavitas were recited by youth, local talents and granthi speeches were on Baisakhi day. Program was attended by more than 175 people.
