NEW DELHI: Thirty one Indians were arrested during last year on charges of spying for Pakistan, home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed said on Thursday told this reporter, adding that Sikhs from different parts of the US and Canada were expected to take part in the parade.
World Sikh News interviews with the officials of all the Gurdwaras in New York and New Jersey including the Mid-Hudson Sikh Cultural Society, the Singh Sabha of New York, the ‘Sri Guru Singh Sabha, in Glenrock NJ and the Garden Sikh State Association, Bridgewater NJ have shown a massive support for the event and many officials said that they had made arrangements for buses for all the participants who come to the Gurdwaras for the parade.
The parade which has become a big annual event, attracts Sikhs from all over the East Coast and has become a landmark amongst the multifaceted ethnic cultural events of the “melting pot” of New York
The parade will start at 38 Street and Broadway at 1 pm. The sangat will assemble at 11 am. It will terminate at the Union Square Park on West 14 Street.
