CHANDIGARH: Ludhiana’s superintendent of police Iqbal Singh Dhillon escaped an attempt on his life while six people, including a paramilitary border security force (BSP) personnel, were killed and six wounded in Punjab since Thursday night.

Militants ambushed the SP’s jeep near Sherpur Chowk in Ludhiana district while he was leading a patrol party. In the ensuring exchange of fire a civilian was killed and another injured while Dhillon had a providential escape.

The injured identified as an industrialist, was admitted to a hospital, reports said.

Militants attacked Patti police station, two SPOS in Arthewal and Jaito villages in Batala district.
