NEW YORK: NY: The third Baisakhi parade will be held in New York on April 21, according to officials of the Sikh Cultural Society in Richmond Hill here,
The parade which has become a big event attracts Sikhs from all over the East Coast and has become a landmark amongst the multifaceted ethnic cultural events of the melting pot of New York. This year it will be longer and bigger than the one last year, and more floats are expected to be shown.
All the major Sikh organizations and Gurdwaras in New York and New Jersey as well as many other bodies from various parts of United States are expected to participate in the parade.
The parade will start at 48 Street and Broadway in Manhattan at 1 pm sharp. The sangat will assemble at 11 am. It will terminate at the Washington Square Park on West 4 Street:
“Last year’s parade was a resounding success, this year we hope that even more people celebrate the occasion with us,” said Jagjit Singh Mangat, the president of Sikh Cultural Society, while announcing the parade. Various details of the event will be published in forthcoming events of the WSN.
