It was published in WSN (March 2, 1990, p. 13) that Gurtej Singh was appointed National Professor of Sikhism in succession to S. Kapur Singh. In fact Gurtej Singh was appointed “‘national scholar in Sikhism” by the SGPC and not the Akal Takhat. Gurtej Singh did not succeed S. Kapoor Singh as National Professor of Sikhism.
