AMRITSAR: Security forces have been put on maximum alert in the border ranges and an offensive strategy evolved to launch a big operation against Sikh freedom fighters according to intelligence sources. This follows the massacre at Abohar where 38 persons were killed last week. Intelligence has it that there are going to be some more big strikes at Soft Target soon,
The operation will be jointly conducted by the BSF, CRPF and Punjab police particularly in Tarn Taran a volatile area. The border range DIG DIS Bhullar said the operation would be carried on specific intelligence information and feedback.
The sources again said that militancy will become more pronounced in the Malwa belt of Punjab. Some militant groups had already migrated there from Amritsar. One such group headed by Bakshish Singh Sona is believed to have spread out in the Mand area of Ferozepur.
