KATHMANDU: The South Asian Region is facing “a common crisis” of rapidly eroding resource potential that calls for collective and determined remedial action, Kant Kishore Bhargava, secretary general of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SA-ARC) has said.
Addressing the inaugural session of the expert group meeting of SAARC member countries to work out the modalities for the realization of SAARC 2000: A basic needs perspective here Tuesday, Bhargava said the scenario for 2000 A.D. for SAARC evoked, on the one hand, tremendous human and natural resource potential, and on the other, a grim realization of the undermining of this potential due to erosion in the resource base.
