NEW DELHI: A high-level Indian team reached Stockholm to meet the Swedish officials to establish the requirements essential for Swedish corporation in the Bofors gun deal investigations, CBI sources said.

The team comprising Madhavan, Deputy inspector general in CBI, Bhure Lal, joint secretary in prime minister office and Arun Jaitley, additional solicitor general have already secured Swiss assistance in the probe, sources said,

The sources dismissed reports that the CBI had required the freezing of some additional Swiss Bank accounts and added that the CBI suspected that the accounts of Pitco, Moresco and Moineao were among the six frozen accounts.

They noted that the letter rogatory was so worded to allow freezing of additional accounts if any evidence was found during the probe into the six frozen accounts,

Referring to the summons issued to Win Chaddha and GP Hinduja to appear before CBI on February 12, the sources said that the summons had not been served on them.

Hinduja and Chaddha who were named in CBI FIR on Bofors gun deal, are apparently evading the summons, the sources said adding that Mr. Hinduja was not in Britain and Chaddha was not traceable in Dubai.

They said that the deadline for the summons would be extended and the final date would be finalized in a day or two.

The sources said that CBI would not take legal action against Hinduja and Chaddha “in a hurry because all legal aspects would have to be looked into.”

They said that a team of CBI officers was looking into the matter and would carefully consider all aspects before a decision is taken on initiating legal action against Chaddha and Hinduja.
