With the withdrawal of the special protection group for former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress I has come up with an absolutely novel plan to replenish the SPG with 500 karate fighters.
The idea is, obviously, still in its germinal stages. The DYPC (I) president, Mr. Sushil Sharma said that an “emergent” meeting to decide on the “volunteers” would be held soon. How soon? That is to be decided, he said.
The DPYC (I) executive fiat, perhaps also lacks the go-ahead signal of the party high command. This was evident when Mr. Sharma was asked if the former prime minister had given his consent. He said this information was “classified” and not for the consumption of the press.
Senior party leaders said he had no clue to the latest security development.
Condemning the attitude of the Government as “‘shabby” Mr. Sharma said that Mr. Rajiv Gandhi required additional security which had been “purposely” withdrawn and said it was common practice for Youth Congress (I) and Seva Dal volunteers to assist in security affairs for party leaders when out of power.
According to Mr. Sharma some of the volunteers are trained while the majority of them would be trained by a “famous’’ karate expert, P.A Gurange.
