NEW DELHI The director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Rajendra Shekhar, and said Thursday that a first information report might be filed into alleged pay-offs in the HDW submarine deal if a prima facie case was made out.
Talking to PTY, director of the India’s premier sleuth agency, SheKhar said, “we do not rule out the possibility of filing a case provided proper evidence is collected after investigations,”
He said that investigations had already begun into the submarine deal and CBI would bank upon Concrete documents if it decided to file an FIR.
Asked if the CBI would send teams to foreign countries to probe the deal, Shekhar said that he did not preclude the possibility.
However, he said that he should be first convinced of the existence of “proper evidence” before taking steps to file a formal case,
Shekhar further said that all angles into the multi-million dollar deal with the West German firm were being looked into:
