NEW DELHI: Mr. Sudip Mazumdar, special correspondent of Newsweek, on Saturday described as un-justed and tendentious the report that the article on Kashmir in the newsweekly’s latest issue had a “highly anti India slant.

A customs spokesman had stated in Bombay at the time copies of the weekly were detained on January 31 that the authorities were not objecting to the article that had a highly anti-India slant for reasons of freedom of the press. The copies of the weekly had been detained for carrying an objectionable map of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Mazumdar, who co-authored the article with Ms. Susan Greenberg asserted that if the article accompanying the map had been read it would have been amply clear that the insinuation about the text is unjust and tendentious,
