ISLAMABAD: The death toll in the recent ethnic violence in curfew-bound Hyderabad has risen to 15, with one more person falling victim to sniper shooting since Thursday night.

Reports here said Mohammad Shah was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Pucca Qila area.

Indefinite curfew was clamped on the city on Tuesday following a fresh outbreak of violence that left 11 killed and several injured. Two more persons were killed and over 20 injured on Wednesday in clashes when a funeral possession was fired upon in Pheleli area.

The imposition of curfew was announced from mosques and police vans with the warning that anyone seen on the streets will be shot at.

Two special teams, headed by the deputy superintendents of police have been appointed to probe the incidents.

The situation in strife-tom Hyderabad and Latifabad has been described as tense. Police claimed to have nabbed 12 people in a crackdown on Khata Chowk and Nain-ka-Piri.

Over 30 people have died in sporadic incidents of violence in the two cities in the last two months.

Another report said two school children were killed in a bomb explosion at Sufaid Sang village near Peshawar.
