BOMBAY: At least 10,000 copies of the latest issue of ‘Newsweek’ dated February 5 were “detained” Wednesday by the customs authorities at Bombay airport as it carried an article along with a map in which, “the external boundaries of the country are not found to be authentic and correct.”

The map, as depicted by the international weekly news magazine which landed at the airport on ‘Tuesday, showed “Kashmir as part of Pakistan” and brought it to the notice of the higher authorities, who in turn decided to ‘detain’ the entire lot of the magazines.

Official sources said the matter concerned would be stamped as “objectionable” or “blackened” before the magazine was released.
