PANAJI, GOA: Pratapsing Rane, who was elected leader of the state Congress legislature party early Tuesday, was sworn in as the chief minister of the western coastal state of Goa at the Governor’s residence near here Tuesday.

The oath of secrecy and office ‘was administered by governor Khurshid Alam Khan.

Immediately after the ceremony, Rane told reporters initially he would constitute a ten-member ministry.

Rane later left for New Delhi to present the list of ministry to Congress-I President Rajiv Gandhi.

He said that the ministry, which might be of two or three tiers, would be announced in two or three days.

When asked if there would be any deputy chief minister in the cabinet, Rane said there was no such proposal.
