NEW DELHI A petition challenging the election of former information and broadcasting minister, Harkishen Lal Bhagat, has been filed in the Delhi High Court by Chand Ram, a nominee of the Janata Dal.

Bhagat’ was elected from: the Fast Delhi Parliamentary constituency on a Congress I ticket.

The petition alleged that the returning officer, Y.D. Benkata had refused to allot the Janata Dal symbol to the petitioner despite the fact that Janata Dal leaders V.P. Singh and Devi Lal had in a signed letter declared Chand Ram the official nominee of the party.
