NEW DELHI: The Janata Party (JP) demanded that the National Front government should launch criminal prosecution against the persons behind the November 1984 riots based on the affidavits of eye witnesses and affected persons filed before the Rangnath Mishra commission and the Jain Banerjee committee.

In a statement in the Indian capital of New Delhi, the party vice president, Subramanian Swamy, also demanded the release forthwith of about 14,000 Sikh prisoners, including Atinderpal Singh, Member of Parliament.

Swamy said that his party will be represented at the all-party rally organized by the center on January 11 by Maniram Bagri, General secretary, Arvind Chaturvedi, secretary, and Hardev Singh Kondal, Punjab state president.
