LUDHIANA: Feb 2, The Unified Akal Dal led by Mr. Jagdev Singh Talwandi today decided to fight “police repression” and the “tyranny” of the Central Government on Sikhs in Punjab and other parts of the country.

The meeting in a resolution said that “police reprehensible and corruption was” rampant” in the Police Department.
Women Molested The police and the security forces were committing “atrocities” on Sikhs and even women were taken to police stations and reports.
Of their molestation had been received “Innocent” persons were kept in “Illegal” police custody for days. The meeting referred to the “atrocities” on Sikhs in the police district of Batala and in almost all other districts of the States.
Mr. Shaminder Singh, MP told the meeting that he had received a letter from the Punjab Governor regarding complaints against Mr. Gobind Ram when he was SP Faridkot, saying that Mr. J. Ribeiro adviser to the Governor, would look into the complaints, but so far he had not been approached in this connection.
Serious allegations of police repression were also made at the meeting by Mr. Nirmal Singh Kahlon, a former Minister, and Mr Parkash Singh Majitha.

The meeting felt that such a check on the mission was not only undemocratic but was also discriminatory and deliberate. Representatives of all political parties were permitted to visit Jammu whereas the “real representatives” of the Sikhs were stopped outside Jammu, which clearly showed that the loss of life and property in Jammu and other parts of the State was “much more than what has been declared”.
The meeting was attended among others by Mr. Sugan Singh Thekedar, who was released from jail a few days ago, Mr. Parkash ‘Singh Majitha, Mr Bachitar Singh, Mr Gurdas Singh Badal, Mr.BaIwinder Singh Bhunder, Mr Manjit Singh Calcutta and Mr.Mewa Singh Gill.
