NEW DELHI: Fresh snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and rains in Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh led to the cold wave tightening its grip in the north India, as many areas of interior Himachal Pradesh remained cut off from rest of the country for the fifth day Monday.
Delhi continued to shiver, as the sky remained overcast almost through the day. Indian Airlines and other flights did not operate till noon as thick fog enveloped the entire city.
Reports from Chandigarh said day and night temperatures in the region were two to five degrees Celsius below normal.
Fog engulfed many areas in the region resulting in poor visibility affecting rail, road and air traffic.
The Indian Airlines, internal air carrier, could not operate its Delhi Chandigarh Delhi flight.
Tribal districts of Kinnaur LahaulSpiti, Pangi and Bharmour (all in H.P.) besides the tourist’s resorts of Kufri Narkanda, Dalhousie and Chamba reported fresh snow during the past 24 hours.
