STOCKTON: The Editor in Chief of the weekly World Sikh News Mr. Manjit Singh Sidhu submitted his resignation due to. His personal reasons. He was the first Editor in Chief of this English weekly which started publication soon after the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple by the Indian Army, leading to a destruction of a valuable Sikh heritage and great loss of life. Thousands of Sikhs are reported to have been massacred during the brutal attack.
The publication was necessitated due to the indifference in reporting of Sikh affairs by various Indian newspapers which generally have a pro Indian Government slant.
There was no English newspaper which has the substantial circulation and which was forceful in bringing the Sikh concerns and perspective in view. The concentrated effort by various Sikhs who recognized the problem made this publication possible.
The management of World Sikh News excepted the resignation of Mr. Sidhu with regret and thanked him for his services and hopes he will continue to serve the community. The management will soon be filling the position vacated by Mr. Sidhu and assures its readers that there will be no change in the polices. The weekly will continue to present the Sikh point of view and the events and service to the ongoing struggle for sovereign Sikh State. The management further desires to aggressively provide coverage of community concern in the western world.
