LAHORE: The Islamic Democratic Alliance party has formed a government in Baluchistan by sharing power with a local party there.

Akbar Khan Baksh was named the new Chief Minister of the state. This is the second state in Pakistan which has come to power and is the first major setback to Mrs. Benazir Bhutto, the Prime Minister.

The IDA is already in power in the state of Punjab where its leader Nawaz Sharif is the Chief Minister. Ina statement Sharif expressed his hope that his party would soon be able to sweep the polls and come to power all over Pakistan.
