AMRITSAR, INDIA, Jan 22, Reuter: Three more Hindus were hanged since the execution two. weeks ago of two Sikhs for the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, police said on Sunday.

At least five persons seized brothers Gian Chand and Veer hand Chand and their neighbor Madal Lal from their homes in Amarkalan near the Sikh holy city Amritsar on Saturday night.

Their bullet riddled bodies were found hanging from a tree outside the village on Sunday morning by neighbors too terrified to leave their homes until daylight.

On January 12, six days after S. Satwant Singh and S. Kehar Singh were executed for the 1984 assassination of Gandhi, four Hindus were hanged.

Nearly 400 people have been killed so far this year. Last year’s death toll was more than 2,500, double 1987.

Meanwhile two freedom fighters were killed by the police and 17 others were arrested.
