Beant Singh NEW YORK, NY: A function was held at the Sikh Cultural Society, Richmond Hill on November 6 to observe the fourth anniversary of the martyrdom of Beant Singh who assassinated Mrs. Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984 and the subsequent massacre of Sikhs in New Delhi and other places.
Thousands of innocent Sikhs were massacred in the mayhem let loose by Congress (I) party’s hired hoodlums in the Indian capital city and various congress (I) ruled states, Sikh women were raped, their family members were burnt alive in front of them, Sikh owned properties were looted and burnt in a program orchestrated by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his minions.
Sikh youth of New York distributed Kesari turbans to all those who came to the Gurdwara Sahib which turned the diwan hall into a sea of saffron.
- Jagjit Singh Mangat, President of the Society told World Sikh News “Beant Singh avenged the desecration of the Golden Temple by Mrs. Gandhi. Whenever any aggressor desecrated our holiest shrine he or she did not survive after that… Thousands of Sikhs were massacred by Congress (I) gundas who have now been made senior ministers in Gandhi’s cabinet.”
Mangat said the Sikhs would not forget the massacres of their brethren in India and the recent killings in Bidar only reinforced the conviction that Sikhs were not safe in India and would only be safe in their own homeland.
