AMRITSAR: The “Panthic Committee” today announced that it would hold the“Sarbat Khalsa” at Akal Takht in the Golden Temple on Divali to take a decision about the new Jathedar of Akal Takht.
In a statement here the Panthic Committee said that a meeting of its members and militants was held at a secret place yesterday to discuss various issues before the Panth.
It was then decided to convene the “Sarbat Khalsa.”
The “Sarbat Khalsa” the statement, said, would discuss steps to intensify the “Sikh struggle” and adopt a “war strategy” to achieve “Khalistan.”
The committee asserted that it was authorized by the “Sarbat Khalsa” on January 26, 1986, to hold such gatherings particularly when the head priests failed to implement various resolutions passed by “Sarbat Khalsa” conventions.
Criticizing Mr. Jasbir Singh, the statement said he had defied the resolutions of the “Sarbat Khalsa” by not organizing a convention on Baisakhi.
Mr. Jasbir Singh was “hobnobbing’ with the government to become the new Jathedar of Akal Takht.
