UNITED NATIONS, Sept 29, Reuter: Secretary General Javier Perez De Guellar hailed the award of the noble peace prize to U.N. Peacekeeping troops on Thursday as “one of the most brilliant decisions” ever taken by the Prize Committee.
The secretary General made the remark in response to a shouted request for comment as he was greeting French President Francois Mitterrand.
“It is one of the most brilliant decisions taken by the committee of the noble prize,” he said.
Perez De Cuellar will accept the prize on December 10 as Commander in Chief of U.N. peacekeeping forces, Norway’s delegate to the United Nations Tom Erik Uraalsen said.
