Amritsar; The Sikh museum in the Golden Temple complex has. Lost two more valuable possessions from its treasure. The Janam Sakhi of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji belonging to 16th century and Chhota Khanda of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Ji, son of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth guru of the Sikhs, were stolen from the museum, soon after the temple was opened to the public after the operation Black Thunder in May this year. The SGPC has got registered a F.LR, with the local police.

Mr. Amolak Singh, in charge of the museum, disclosed that on May 19, 1988, both these items were at their places. But soon after these were stolen by the first few persons who visited the museum, through the confusion that prevailed. The Janam Sakhi of Sri Guru nanak Dev Ji,a four hundred page book, was written by Bhai Mookha at Sultanpur Lodhi. It revealed some significant facts about the life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

The museum, a favorite place of devotees visiting the Golden Temple complex, has also lost 48 more paintings during the operation Black Thunder; this includes the paintings of eminent painters like Kirpal Singh, Amolak Singh Gurdit Singh and DayinderSingh. These paintings shed light on the various events of the Sikh history. These paintings were destroyed by indiscriminate firing by the paramilitary forces during the operation Black Thunder.

Earlier 103 paintings had been lost during the operation Blue Star in June 1984.

The SGPC has listed the lost treasure of the Sikh history and have submitted it to the government for compensation.
