PRIME MINISTER, Gurmej Singh Gill has called¢ ‘upon the Sikhs all over the world to observe June 6 as Black Day to commemorate the Indian Army s invasion and desecration of Akal Takht, Golden Temple, and other Sikh shrines, on the same day four years ago. He has asked them to hold Akhand Paths (recitation from the Sikh scriptures), followed by special prayers for the souls of over 11,000 men, women and children slain by the Indian security forces; and rededication to the struggle for the liberation of their homeland from the Indian stranglehold. He has also called upon the Sikh tradesmen in the rural areas of the Punjab to suspend supplies to the towns for that day in token of their solidarity with the freedom fighters.
Worldwide, he has asked the Sikhs to wear black headgear and arm bands as a reminder to the whole world that the Sikh Nation was mourning the demise of their human rights at the hands of the Indian Rulers.
Addressing himself to the freedom loving people of all nations and faiths, he urged them to lend moral support to the Sikh freedom fighters, and urge their respective governments to restrain the Indian rulers from continued genocide of, and atrocities on the Sikhs.
He has also called upon the Governments of USA, UK, Canada, and Pakistan in particular, and of the free world in general, to support the Sikhs in their struggle.
