‘WASHINGTON; D.C. Northern California Congressman Wally Herger (R-Rio Oso) today announced that men and women interested in seeking nominations to the U.S: Air Force, Naval Military and Merchant Marine Academics for the classes entering in July 1989 should send a letter of interest to his Washington office as soon as possible. Candidates must be citizens of the United States; legal residents of California’s Second Congressional District, single with no dependents, and at least 17 years of age but not past their 22nd birthday on July 1, 1989 to be considered for nomination by Congressman Herger All applicants must take the SAT or ACT exams.
Congressman Heger will rely upon the recommendations of a Screening Committee, comprised of community leaders and educators, for his selection of nominees. The Screening Committee will interview each applicant in mid-November or early December.
Young people seeking nominations should write to Congressman Herger at 1108 Longworth HOB, Washington, D.C. 20515. While the deadline for application is not until October 28, 1988, it is extremely helpful to begin the application process as soon as possible.
