CHANDIGARH, India: The Union Home Minister has reportedly given up search for a new Director General of Police, Punjab to replace J.F. Rebiero who retires in May. Several officers of the rank of Inspector General tuned down the offer according to police sources. Among those who were approached are K.P.S. Gill, I.G. C.R.P.F. presently at Amritsar and Qureshi who is now made Chief of Indo China Border Police. Rebiero himself had suggested the name of Hargobind Bhatnagar who is at present I.G. B.S.F. and is likely to become its Director General but he was not keen.
