HONG KONG: Almost 180 Vietnamese refugees arrived in Hong
Kong harbor Saturday aboard three leaking boats and were taken into custody, government officials said.
Authorities said the refugees were from the port of Haiphong in northern Vietnam. They had run out of food and fuel by the time they reached Hong Kong.
It was not immediately known when the refugees left Vietnam.
Hong Kong, a key destination for Vietnamese “boat people” during the mass exodus from Vietnam in the late 1970s, still] has some 10,000 people in refugee camps.
