WELLINGTON, Reuter: The fourth day of the third and final cricket test between New Zealand and England was abandoned after tea because of rain making it a Certainty that the match and the series will be drawn,
England is 183 for two wickets with Martin Moxon on 81 and Captain Mike Gating on 33 in reply to New Zealand’s 512 for six wickets declared.
With only one day’s play remaining and a forecast of continuing rain, there is virtually no prospect of a result. Only eight wickets fell in the three days when play was possible.
Both the first two tests ended in draws. A draw will ensure that New Zealand’s record of being unbeaten in a home series since 1978 remains intact.
Score: New Zealand 512 for six declared (M. Crowe 143, K. Rutherford 107 not out, M. Greatbatch 68). England 183 for two wickets (Cc. Broad 61, M. Moxon 81 not out),
