AMRITSAR, Punjab, India: The security forces rounded up about 100 persons including devotees in the early hours. Later majority of the persons were let off after initial questioning but about 20 persons were taken to some undisclosed destination for further interrogation. The security forces said to have swung into action, according to an excuse by the police, when some young men brandished some arms on the roofs of some building around Chowk Ghanta Ghar. The security forces cordoned off the main gates and blocked other entrances, before swinging into action.
This action by the security forces has been considered as a rehearsal for entering into Golden Temple to arrest some militant young men, who according to the police are taking shelter inside the Golden Temple. The operation may include the courting of the Parkarma area and search of adjoining places.

It is learnt that more forces are being requisitioned for the proposed operation. The Director General of police, J.F. Ribiero is personally looking after the details of the operation for its proper implementations.
